DESIGN CORPS APPRENTICESHIPS

An Design Corps apprenticeship is a real job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. You’re an DesignedByUs.org employee with paid leave. By the end of an apprenticeship, you'll have the right skills and knowledge needed for S.T.E.A.M.D. career path. It can take between one and 5 years to complete an apprenticeship depending on which one you choose, what level it is and your previous experience.

Apprenctices must be 16 years of age, provide proof of age, write and submit a 2-page essay.

2-PAGE ESSAYS
Every apprentice must submit a 2-page essay. Essays should share vision of how the applicant will use their new collar skills and the Design By Us Leadership Principles to build a better future for their town, community, government or the planet.

BECOME
AN APPRENTICE

To become an Design Corps Apprentice, you must be be 16 or over and not already be in full-time education. As an apprentice you will:

- Train for a specific S.T.E.A.M.D. job
- Get hands-on experience
- Study for at least 20% of your working hours
- Complete assessments during your apprenticeship
- Be on a STEAMD career path with future
potential

PRODUCT DESIGN

Master how to design connected hardware, software and human centered products. Develop in-demand product design skills like web, mobile, tv and VR application design in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML5, CSS, p5.js Unity and UnReal Engine.

SOUND DESIGN

Learn to create immersive soundscapes and effects for software, virtual reality, video games, podcasts and entertainment. Train on Pro Tools, Midi, FMOD and Wwise. Compose, record, distribute and stream your music, shows and audio work on Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, TikTok, Amazon Music.

WRITING

Write for creative ads, technical, film, tv, streaming & social media content. This apprenticeship focuses on generating ad ideas, narrative, story ideas and developing them through research, outline, treatment, final script, bible and production.

RESEARCH

Learn to understand the customer journey through leading research techniques and methodologies. Become skilled at customer model creation, stakeholder interviews, workshops, decision mapping, insight synthesis, heuristics, usability and UI iterations.

ENGINEER

Become a skilled software engineer. Learn to full cycle development and build iOS, Android and web applications, and Application Programming Interfaces (API). Get hands on experience using Swift and python syntax, strings and console output, conditional and control flow, functions, lists and dictionaries.

Ai & MACHINE LEARNING

Gain valuable understanding and skills in the useage of Ai and machine learning in everyday applications. All Ai/ML apprentices must already be comfortable with Python functions, control flow, lists, and loops.

ENTERTAINMENT
PRODUCER

Learn to oversee and orhestrate TV, film, social media content, advertising and commerical production. Master how to plan and coordinate script selecton, coordinating writing, directing, editing and arranging financing and managing budgets.

Learn a set of practices that combines hardware and software development and IT operations. This apprenticeship aims to give you experience in a systems development life cycle and continuous, iterative delivery with human-centered software quality.

Master how to manage an entire product experience—not just a feature set—using popular frameworks and tools. Develop in-demand product management skills like market analysis, value proposition creation, roadmap development, rapid prototyping, SQL, data visualization.
